Former Illinois Cornerback Passes Away at 35

Vontae Ottis Davis, who played in the NFL for 10 years has passed away. An employee in at Davis's home called police this Monday morning to report that he has been found deaf in his Florida, Miami ranch.

"Preliminary information suggests that foul play is not involved," the police department said in a statement.

At this time there is no new information as to what took this man at such a young age. Prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this tragic time.

Davis played for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills in his 10 year career with the NFL. He was know for his shocking retirement in the middle of a game against the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018. Davis gave no indication of emotional distress leading up to his death today. Last week he promoted his children's book, "The Middle School Rules of Vontae Davis." A book reflecting on "invaluable life lessons" he experienced growing up in poverty. Rest in peace to a young man lost too soon. More will be learned at his autopsy as to what may have caused this loss.
